Search for the best hospital check up Bangkok can offer and you will mostly find package grids and promotional banners. They tell you the price and the number of tests, but very little about the things that shape your day and what happens afterwards: how results are explained, who follows up on an abnormal finding, and whether the package you are looking at is even open to you as a visitor.

COMPARE BEFORE YOU BOOK

Compare Bangkok health check-ups

Choose screening with a clinician and check what each package actually includes.

This guide compares the large private hospital check-up centres on those practical points rather than ranking them. For background on what check-ups include and how they are priced, start with our health check-up guide, then use this page to narrow down where to book.

What all major centres have in common

Bangkok's big private hospitals run check-up centres that look broadly similar from the outside. Each offers tiered packages, usually split by sex and age band, with blood and urine tests at the base and imaging, cardiac tests and specialist screening added as you move up.

Most also share a few operating habits worth knowing in advance:

Because the basics overlap so much, the "best" centre for you depends on a handful of practical differences rather than on reputation alone.

Differences that matter: wait, language and imaging

Time on the day

Visits usually take between two and six hours, depending on the tier and whether imaging is included. Bumrungrad's guide gives rough durations by package, from around three to four hours for its entry executive tier to a full day for its most extensive programme. Ask any centre for an estimate for your specific package, and whether that includes waiting for the doctor review.

Language support

All three of the best-known hospitals for foreign patients, Bumrungrad International, Bangkok Hospital Headquarters and Samitivej, advertise international patient services. The detail varies. Bumrungrad lists reports in English plus support in several other languages, with interpreters for others. Samitivej describes free interpretation for many languages without listing them. Bangkok Hospital's International Medical Services centre mentions language assistance and help with scheduling.

If you need a language other than English or Thai, ask before booking whether an interpreter will be with you for the doctor consultation specifically, not only at registration.

Imaging and add-ons

Package names rarely tell you which imaging is included. One centre's "comprehensive" tier may include an abdominal ultrasound and a treadmill stress test, while another's adds a chest X-ray but not ultrasound. Mammography and low-dose lung CT are frequently sold as add-ons. Ask for the line-item list rather than the headline test count.

QuestionWhy it matters
Which imaging is included, by name?"Comprehensive" means different things at different hospitals
Is a doctor consultation included? Some lower tiers rely on a printed report
When will the full written report be ready? You may have left Bangkok by then
Is an interpreter present for the consultation?Registration help is not the same as clinical interpretation
What happens if a result is abnormal?Follow-up tests and specialist visits are usually extra

International vs resident packages

This is where many visitors get caught out. A lot of the attractive promotional prices are restricted. Samitivej's annual check-up promotion page, for example, says the offer is available only to Thai nationals and foreigners living in Thailand. Tourists may need to book standard or international packages at different prices.

Other hospitals take a different approach. Bumrungrad's 2026 guide says its prices are the same regardless of nationality, with published packages seen in public listings in 2026 running from about THB 16,300 for its entry executive tier to roughly THB 50,000–57,000 for its most extensive standard programme, depending on sex. Bangkok Hospital publishes international programmes through its International Medical Services centre, alongside separate offers aimed at locals. An overview on Expatica, with prices checked in July 2026, lists entry packages at Bangkok Hospital Headquarters from about THB 4,900 and at Samitivej Sukhumvit from about THB 4,500, with higher tiers running much further.

Treat any figure as a starting point only. Promotions often have purchase deadlines and validity windows, and packages differ in content. Confirm the price and eligibility directly before paying, and compare inclusions, not headline numbers. Our pricing approach explains how we read these listings.

Follow-up and specialist referral

The check-up itself is only half the value. The more important question is what happens when something comes back outside the reference range.

At large hospitals, a doctor reviewing your results can often refer you to an in-house specialist, sometimes on the same day. Bumrungrad notes that specialist consultations beyond the package scope and any treatment are not included, which is standard practice across the sector. Budget for a possible extra consultation, repeat tests or additional imaging.

Ask three things before you book:

  1. How are preliminary results explained, and by whom?
  2. How are final reports delivered (app, email, patient portal, paper), and how long do they take? Bumrungrad cites three to seven business days for complete written results.
  3. If I am back home, can the hospital send records and imaging files to my own doctor?

If you are weighing a hospital check-up against a newer preventive or longevity programme, our comparison of hospital longevity centres and boutique clinics covers the trade-offs. Once you have the report, our guide to reading your check-up results explains next steps.

Location and transport

A check-up starts early and you will be fasting, so travel time matters more than usual. Bumrungrad sits off lower Sukhumvit near Nana, Samitivej Sukhumvit is further east towards Phrom Phong and Thonglor, and Bangkok Hospital Headquarters is on New Petchaburi Road. Several other private hospitals sit in the Silom, Sathorn and Lumpini area; see our Silom and Sathorn guide if you are staying there.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment?

In practice, yes. Most large centres expect you to book and prepay, and fasting tests need a planned arrival time. Bumrungrad suggests booking one to two weeks ahead for standard packages and longer for complex ones or the December to February peak.

Can results be emailed?

Usually, but the method varies. Many hospitals now deliver reports through an app or patient portal, with email or paper copies on request. Ask in advance how long the final report takes and whether imaging files can be sent to your home doctor.

Can tourists buy the promotional packages?

Not always. Some promotions are limited to Thai nationals and residents, so read the terms or ask the hospital directly before planning around a discounted price.

Is the most expensive package the best choice?

Not necessarily. More tests mean more chances of borderline results that need follow-up. Choose a tier that matches your age, history and risk factors, ideally after a short discussion with a doctor.
