A 60-minute contrast booking gives you access time, not a requirement to spend an hour moving between extreme temperatures. Plan the appointment so there is room for orientation, rest and changing.

An example booking structure

The schedule below allocates time at the venue. It does not prescribe minutes inside the sauna or bath.

Part of the bookingExample allocationPurpose
Check-in and changing10 minutesExplain concerns and prepare
Introduction5 minutesConfirm equipment, limits and exit
Flexible activity window25 minutesStaff-guided use with pauses; no required exposure time
Rest and reassessment10 minutesCheck how you feel before leaving
Shower and changing10 minutesFinish without rushing

If the venue counts check-in separately, you have more flexibility. If consultation takes longer, reduce the activity window rather than compressing the rest.

Agree on the session before starting

Tell staff whether this is a first visit and whether you want heat, cold or both. Confirm that you can change your mind.

Ask about the specific sauna type and available water temperatures. A protocol copied from another venue may not fit the equipment you are using.

Keep the plan adjustable

You do not need to complete a circuit to receive value from the booking. Learning that a particular service does not suit you is useful information before a longer commitment.

If you become unwell, the activity window ends. Do not spend the remaining minutes trying another treatment to recover the cost.

Include the journey home

Allow a margin before another appointment, a workout or a long drive. The visit should not end with rushing from a wet changing room into traffic.

Use the first-session checklist to pack and compare sauna and ice bath order if you are considering both.

Frequently asked questions

Does a one-hour booking mean one hour of contrast therapy?

No. It may include changing, orientation and rest. Confirm how the venue measures the booking.

Can I use only the sauna or only the bath?

Ask the venue, but you should not feel obliged to use every included facility.

What if I need longer to get ready?

Reduce the optional activity time or choose a longer access product; do not rush your departure.

Is the schedule a treatment protocol?

No. It allocates appointment time and deliberately does not prescribe hot or cold exposure.
